Pantheon: A Game of Godhood (Alpha Playtest)
A downloadable game
Pantheon is an extremely modular tabletop roleplaying game by Ted S. Bushman, creator of The Last Caravan, where narrative character creation (in the style of Wildsea) meets scenario-based play (in the style of Yazeba's Bed and Breakfast). Pantheon is designed to be run either with a GM (what I call Prepared Play) or without (Spontaneous Play.) and is suited for one-shot play as well as long-term campaigns.
In Pantheon, you will invent a union of gods and tell their mythic stories in an ancient world. You will discover yourself and strange beautiful lands, harness divine power, develop generational kinships with mortals, defend your people from calamities and other gods, and oversee the beginning and end of reality itself.
This is an Alpha Playtest. What does that mean? This version has a fully usable core game loop, robust character creation, and a developed central mechanic. I'm releasing this partially for the goal of receiving feedback to improve the game. This version also includes only a fraction of what I would want a final game to include. I'm imagining that each Origin and Domain would have between 8 and 16 aspects (as opposed to 3 or 4 in this version), and there would be a minimum of 30 scenarios (currently there are less than 10). The Codex, an important part of the hypothetical game, is not yet finished really at all.
If you play Pantheon, I'd love to hear from you! Please reach out with your feelings on the game and help me make it the best version of itself.
